457,085. Slide-rules. FABER CASTELLBLEISTIFT-FABRIK AKT.-GES., A. W., Stein, near Nuremberg, Germany. April 21, 1936, No. 11387. Convention date, April 30, 1935. [Class 106 (i)] A cursor for use with slide-rules having graduations on the upper and lower side edges as well as on the face comprises a frame or guide members carrying transparent plates with hair line indexes for co-operating with the respective graduated scales. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, a transparent face plate 1 is supported in guide strips 2, 3, formed with lugs 4 ... 7 in any convenient manner for supporting transparent plates 8, 9. The strips are provided with fillets 10, 11 for guiding the cursor along the stock, a spring 17 being provided to hold the cursor in adjusted position. As shown in Figs. 5 and 7, the face plate 1 is supported in a frame 2 and the side plates 8, 9 are pressed against the lugs 4 ... 7 by spring elements 12, 13. In another form as shown in Figs. 12 and 13, the plates 1, 8, 9 are formed integrally and the fillets 10, 11 are directly attached thereto, the whole being protected by metal end strips 2,3.
