Abstract

1,167,880. Wagons for transporting special loads; undercarriages. YAWATA IRON & STEEL CO. Ltd. 30 Dec., 1966, No. 58336/66. Heading B7L. A railway truck 2, Fig. 3, for carrying a converter 1 or similar container, comprises a frame 17 provided with wheels 18, 19 engaging rails 20, 21; hydraulic cylinder and ram devices (13), (14), 15, 16 fixed at the corners of the frame 17; an upper frame 3 fitted to the devices 13 to 16 so as to be raisable and lowerable thereby; and a converter supporting frame 8 having a converter support 4 rotatable on the frame 3 on ball bearings 6 and also having depending struts 9, (10), 11, (12). The struts and frame 8 can be lowered to the ground by the devices 13 to 16 whereafter the frame 17 and wheels 20, 21 can be raised by the devices, rotated relative to the frame 8 so as to be positioned over a track intersecting the rails 20, 21, and then lowered thereonto.
