Abstract

1,166,619. Dispensing toner in xerographic machines. RANK XEROX Ltd. Oct. 14, 1966 [Oct. 18, 1965], No. 46100/66. Heading G2H. A device for supporting a container 10 for xerographic toner on a xerographic machine has driving means which open and close the container. The container 10 has an opening closed by a liner 20 rotatable in the container. The liner 20 has a closed end portion 22 and is rotated by a hub 30, Fig. 4, co-operating with a drive portion 23. The container 10 is positioned over an opening 41 in base-plate 40, the container being restrained against rotation by a slot 44 engaging a projection on the container. A cover 37 is actuated by mechanism 60 which in the closed position of the cover occupies a housing (49, Fig. 7, not shown). Raising of the cover causes movement of a link 61, Fig. 4, pivoted on a shaft 80. Arms 64, 65 support an arm 66 rotatably supporting the drive hub 30. The hub 30 is rotated by a spring-loaded handle 94. A cam-operated latch 54 locks a container in position for supplying toner to the metering mechanism (6, Fig. 1, not shown).
