Abstract

1,166,171. Agricultural implements. FMC CORP. 9 June, 1967 [7 Dec., 1966], No. 26629/67. Heading A1B. A rotary soil working unit is arranged to be rotated in either direction and comprises a plurality of tines 51 secured to and projecting outwardly from a central member 24 each tine having opposite side edge portions each inclined relative to a radial tine through the axis of the drive shaft to define a positive angle of approach, A, A1 for each edge when said edge is the leading edge of the tine during rotation of the unit. As shown in Fig. 1 the arrangement is such that when the vehicle 21 advances in one direction, the rotor assembly at the rear cuts into and tills the ground while the rotor assembly at the front engages the ground and propels the vehicle forwardly. To travel in the opposite direction the direction of rotation of the rotor assemblies is reversed.
