Abstract

1489373 Mower support MASSEY-FERGUSON-PERKINS Ltd 13 Dec 1974 [30 May 1974 19 Dec 1973] 23936/74 and 32839/74 Divided out of 1452308 Heading A1F A rotary mower has two cutter carriers 16, 18 rotatable about upright axes supported by a ground engageable support member comprising a draught bar 36, mounted on the carriers 16, 18 by stub shaft assemblies 86, two skids 40, 42 bolted to the draught bar 36, the front portion of each skid being arcuate, and a T-shaped bar (44 Fig. 3, not shown) which in combination with the skids 40, 42 forms a ground engaging surface which extends across the working width of the machine. The ground engaging surface extends rearwardly beyond the rearmost point of the cutting circles described by cutters 118 on each carrier. The rearwardly extending portion of each skid is tapered such that a rear wardly widening gap is defined between the skids. The width of the skids, in the direction of travel, is greater than the diameter of the cutting circle. The tractor linkage, the drive of shafts 108 from gearboxes 30 (32, Fig. 5, not shown) and the blade mountings (120, Fig. 2, not shown) are described in Patent Specifications 1452308; 1376719 and 1451896 respectively.
