Covers and protectors for ladies' hats are formed of waterproof materials, and are provided with a projection or extension whereby the rain drips are caused to fall away from the wearer's head and neck. When not in use, the protectors can be folded up and carried in a hand-bag. As shown in Fig. 1, a circular waterproof cover A is firmly secured along' the broken lines C, over a rectangular veil B. In use, the part D of the cover, between the broken and full lines, projects beyond the hat. The veil is secured beneath the chin in any usual manner. In mcdifications, the protector has attached to it within its border, either on the outside or the inside, an annular band. When on its inner side, the band E, Fig. 2, is secured along its outer edge F to the protectors, while its inner edge has a hem G and draw cord for securing under the hat brim. When on its outer side, the band L, Fig. 4, forms the extension, and is attached to the protector on its inner edge M, while the outer edge of the protector is provided with a hem and draw cords and is drawn under the hat.
