Abstract
1,164,780. Producing neutrons. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 4 Sept., 1968 [15 Sept., 1967], No. 41999/68. Heading G6P. A target, for neutron production by deuterium or tritium bombardment, is formed of a mixture of metal hydrides. A mixture of required metal powders is heated in an atmosphere of deuterium or tritium to form the hydrides. The proportions of the metals are selected so as to cause a zero volume charge during hydriding in the mixture and thus to preserve a high mechanical stability.
