Abstract

1,163,292. Electrostatic printing. OWENSILLINOIS Inc. 21 Sept., 1966 [22 Sept., 1965], No. 42108/66. Heading B6C. In an electrostatic stencilling arrangement a clear image is produced on the underside of the article 18 by arranging the field connections such that the article and the support 12 upon which the stencilling particles 10 are heaped are of the same polarity. Consequently, after passing through the stencil 14 the particles are repelled from the article 18 which ensures that those particles not travelling in a path normal to the article surface are diverted therefrom. The field strength between the particle heap and the screen may be between 40 and 60 volts per mil whilst the field strength between the screen and the article may be between 5 and 20 volts per mil.
