Abstract

1,163,105. Measuring surface resistivity. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Nov.25, 1966 [Dec.3, 1965], No.52849/66. Headings G1N and G1U. 'To measure the surface resistivity of a metal at very high frequency a probe 5 incorporating an inductor is placed in proximity with the surface 7 while a reference probe 6 is placed in proximity with a surface of known resistivity. The inductors form parts of resonant circuits with capacitors 3, 4, and are connected in arms of a bridge system energized from a source 2 which supplies a frequency of several Mc/s. The bridge output is transformer coupled to an amplifier 9 and meter 11. The system is calibrated by using a surface of known resistivity in place of the surface 7. The inductive probe 5 incorporates an insulating block 17 with a flat coil 21 inserted in its end. An insulating end cap of defined thickness screws over the end. The apparatus may be used for testing welds.
