Abstract

1397246 Magnetometers NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 22 Aug 1972 [16 Sept 1971] 43221/71 Heading G1N A magnetometer comprises oscillators 1 and 2 whose frequency determining circuits include an inductor 2 having a core whose permeability varies with the strength of the magnetic field being measured, and indicating and/or control means responsive to the frequency difference between the oscillators. The second oscillator may provide temperature compensation. The difference between their frequencies is indicated at 6. Both oscillators may be within a common aluminium housing clamped between the poles of a magnet which thus serves as a heat sink. The magnetometer may be used to measure the field in a mass spectrometer.
