Abstract

1,162,554. Making boxes. HASKON Inc. 13 Sept., 1966, No. 11995/69. Divided out of 1,162,553. Heading B5D. A mandrel in a carton-forming machine as described in Specification 1,162,553 and for folding-in the top gable flaps of each carton, comprises a body portion 54 with a divided sleeve forming two shoulders 56, 60 slidably mounted in a slot 53 through which passes a connecting bolt 58. The body portion 54 is mounted at one end on a base 52 from which project fingers 61 for engaging a large carton gable top. Similar, smaller fingers 65 are mounted on the sleeve 56 to accommodate smaller sized gable topped cartons. At the other end of the body an end cap 64 is mounted on a reduced section extension 62 and a rubber sealing ring 63 positioned in the cap provides a friction fit on the extension. The end cap 64 can be replaced by one of different size to correspond to the shoulders 56, 60 used.
