Abstract

1,161,443. Vacuum switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 21 Sept., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 43014/67. Heading H1N. The envelope of a vacuum switch is provided with a main shield 50 preventing deposition of metal particles on the insulating wall 11 and two pairs of auxiliary shields 54, 56 overlapping but spaced internally and externally of the ends of the main shield 50. The auxiliary shields prevent particles by-passing the main shield and also provide voltage grading capacitances, being connected to the metal end plates 12, 13 of the switch. An additional shield 58 protects the bellows 20. The contacts are constructed as described in Specification 1,161,442.
