Abstract

1,161,310. Automatic circuit - breakers. CGE - COMPAGNIA GENERALE DI ELECTTRICITA S.p.A. 31 July, 1968 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 36500/68. Heading H1N. An extension assembly for the actuating lever 2 of a circuit-breaker 1, e.g. of the mouldedcase type, comprises a member 11 having an opening 26 to receive the lever 2 and teeth 11a meshing with a toothed sector 12, a rotatable operating handle 40 and a shaft interconnecting the handle and the sector. The member 11 and sector 12 are mounted in a frame 3 so as to form a sub-assembly which is screwed to the cover 1a of the circuit-breaker. The handle 40 and the support 41 in which it is rotatably mounted form a further sub-assembly which may be directly mounted on the frame 3 or mounted on the front of a panel behind which the circuitbreaker is fixed. The circuit-breaker may be locked in the open or closed position by turning a lever 51 against the bias of a spring 53 so that the end of the lever 51 engages in an appropriate one of two notches in the member 41. A padlock or other locking device may then be inserted through a slot in the lever 51. The member 41 and the handle 40 may have cooperating marks to indicate the open, closed and tripped positions.
