Abstract
1,161,026. Flocked products. NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP. 3 July, 1967 [7 July, 1966], No. 30479/67. Heading B2E. A flocked product is prepared by applying to moving member a thermoplastic organic polymer so as to provide a continuous smooth substrate for the product, heating the smooth substrate so that the surface is molten, directing flock material at the moving substrate on the carrier member whereby the bulk of the flock adheres to the molten surface of the polymer substrate, post-heating the substrate to ensure penetration of the flock adhering to the substrate, cooling the flocked substrate, removing the excess flock and removing the product from the carrier. The organic polymer may be a polyolefin such as polyethylene polyvinyl chloride or copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate, ethylene and methyl acrylate, styrene and acrylonitrile, and acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. The polymer may be applied as a powder or by extrusion.
