Abstract

Articles such as shoe stiffeners are injection moulded on to suitable sheet material which is used to remove the articles from the mould and can subsequently be readily stripped from the articles. The injected material may be a copolymer of ethylene and ethyl acrylate or ethylene and vinyl acetate. The sheet material is impervious to the molten material and resistant to rupture thereby at the injection temperature, and may comprise a cellulose film or tracing paper. Alternatively it may comprise a base sheet having a coating of plastics material which adheres to the article and is readily strippable from the base sheet. The sheet material may be fed intermittently from a supply reel to a take-up reel, and may be slit into strips one of which carries the sprue.
