Abstract

1,138,666. Flock coating. NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP. 4 April, 1967 [18 April, 1966], No. 15469/67. Heading B2E. A flocked product is prepared by (a) applying a layer of a polyolefin in a 100% solid system to moving substrate, (b) heating the web thus formed at a temperature to melt the polyolefin (c) directing flock normal to the path of movement of said web whereby the bulk of flock adheres to the molten surface of the polyolefin layer (d) cooling the flocked material and (e) removing the excess flock. The polyolefin may be applied as a powder or alternatively molten polyolefin may be extruded onto the subytrate. After melting the polyolefin the coating product may be passed between rolls to smooth out the polyolefin. The web may be heated again to melt the polyolefin. The polyolefin may be polyethylene or copolymers of ethylene with ethyl acrylate. methyl acrylate and vinyl acetate. The flock may be of nylon.
