Abstract

1,046,295. Laminates. MORTON SALT CO. March 16, 1964, No. 11083/64. Heading B5N. A polyolefin film 12 of thickness 0À2 to 1 mil. is extruded at a rate of 350 feet to 1500 feet per minute on to a paper web 10 coated with a polyalkyleneimine 11 which has a molecular wt. in excess of 2000. The polyalkyleneimine coating is from 0À001-1À0 lb. per 3000 square feet of substrate surface, and the temperature of the polyolefin film is from 550‹ to 625‹ F. taken at the die lands of the extruder. The polyalkyleneimine may be polyethyleneimine, polypropyleneimine or substituted polyethylene- or polypropylene-imine. The polyolefin may be polyethylene, polypropylene or a copolymer of ethylene and propylene, ethylene and vinyl acetate, ethylene and vinyl chloride, ethylene and methyl methacrylate, ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene ethylene and 1-butene, propylene and vinyl acetate, propylene and vinyl chloride, propylene and methylmethacrylate, propylene and tetrafluoroethylene or propylene and 1-butene. The coated paper may be heated to a temperature of about 200‹ F. and may be cured prior to extruding the polyolefin thereon. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 919,065.
