1421760 Polymer-coated paper PAPIERWERKE WALDHOF-ASCHAFFENBURG AG 22 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 59366/72 Heading B2E At least one surface of paper is melt-deposit coated with a 15 g/m<SP>2</SP> of a coating comprising mutually incompatible synthetic resins or a synthetic resin with either a blowing agent, a filler or a cross-linking agent, the surface of the coating being microporous. The synthetic resin may be one or a mixture of thermoplastic materials such as polyolefins, or may be a mixture of polyolefin (e.g. polyethylene) with polystyrene, p.v.c., polyvinyl acetate, A.B.S. copolymer or cellulose acetate. When a blowing agent is used the melt is deposited unblown, then blown using heated rollers. Suitable fillers are microcrystalline gypsum, clay or clay mixed with TiO 2 or ZnO. The coated paper may be passed, in a finish treatment, through mirror-finished cooling rollers.
