Abstract
1,160,157. Microphones. AKUSTISCHE U. KINO-GERATE G.m.b.H. 24 April, 1967 [29 April, 1966],No. 18801/67. Heading H4J. An elongate non-metallic housing 4 (Figs. 1, 2) resiliently supports an assembly including a transducer capsule 1 with the capsule 1 adjacent an open end of the housing 4. The transducer capsule 1 (Fig. 2) or an extension of a casing 2 (Fig. 1) in which the capsule I is mounted is received in the housing 4. Between the assembly and the housing 4 is a resilient member 5 which encircles the capsule 1 (Fig. 2) or casing extension (Fig. 1) and tightly engages the interior surface of the housing 4. The ring 5 [and ring 6 (Fig. 1)] is of foamed rubber or plastics and acts as a sealing ring. An acoustic air space 7 is provided. Leads 8 connect to air-tight terminals 9, 9<SP>1</SP> connected to a cable 11 extending through a rubber bushing 10. The gap between the casing 2 and housing 4 may be concealed by a lip (12) on the casing (2), Fig. 3 (not shown). The speech input of the microphone may extend transversely to the longitudinal axis of the housing 4 (Fig. 4, not shown). The resilient members may carry resilient ribs (15<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 5a (not shown), or ribs (15<SP>11</SP>), Fig. 5b (not shown), extending into grooves 15 on the inside of the housing 4. A sleeve (5<SP>11</SP>), Fig. 6a (not shown), may fit on the capsule 1 and be provided with flexible ribs 16 which yield to permit insertion of the capsule 1 in the housing 4. Various other sealing rings are described. The housing 4 may be open at the front and rear provided the casing 2 is closed at the rear (Fig. 9, not shown). A switch (14), Fig. 10 (not shown), may be mounted in a front cap (22). A resilient bushing (28), Fig. 11 (not shown), extends through the rear of the casing 2 and housing 4 and through which extends a cable (11), to prevent vibrations reaching the capsule 1 via the cable (11). The rear of the casing 2 may have screw threads (27), a resilient bushing (6<SP>1</SP>) enclosing the screw threads (27) and a nut (26) holding the assembly together (Fig. 12, not shown). An angle member (32), Fig. 13 (not shown), may join the capsule 1 to a rear bushing (28).
