Abstract

1,160,125. Phosphatic fertilizers. FISONS BASIC SLAG Ltd. 28 July, 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 38110/66. Heading C1B. Before solidification and grinding, molten basic slag is treated with up to 50% of calcium alumino phosphate rock, preferably in an amount, together with lime and/or silica if necessary, to produce gehlenite (a calcium silicate aluminate) and nagelschmidtite (a calcium silicate phosphate). The molten slag may be at 1400-1800‹ C. The rock may be preheated to 800‹ C. The rock may be added to the molten slag in the steel-making vessel or a ladle.
