Abstract
PURPOSE:Molten pig iron desulfurizing agent, composed of calcium carbide and calcium cyanamide having each specific extent grain diameter and fluorite and heightened desulfurizing reaction efficiency remarkably. CONSTITUTION:Molten pig iron desulfurizing agent composed of fine granular calcium carbide having 0.1-5mm of grain diameter, obtained by crushing the calcium carbide block usually used for desulfurization, coarse granular calcium cyanamide having 3-15mm of grain diameter, oftained by crushing the calcium cyanamide block for fertilizer on the market and powdered or granular fluorite having 5mm or less of grain diameter. Also, weight ratio of calcium cyanamide against calcium carbide, is 20/80-65/35 and that of fluorite against total amount of calcium carbide and calcium cyanamide, is 3-15wt%. On occasion of using the above desulfurizing agent for desulfurization of the molten pig iron, granular calcium cyanamide is melted immediately and granular calcium carbide is dessolved and then, both and made molten state. Accordingly, desulfurization reaction is carried out in the liquid-liquid state and reaction velocity of desulfurization of calcium carbide is accelerated remarkably.
