Abstract
1,159,992. Valves. GULLICK Ltd. 15 May, 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 24840/66. Heading F2V. A pressure relief valve comprises a closure disc 14 urged towards its seat by a diaphragm 16 stretched over a rubber cushion 17. The periphery of the diaphragm is trapped between, and optionally bonded to, annular members 19, 20 threaded into cap 18, the latter being adjustable on body member 10 to vary the loading. The member 10 has a convex surface 10a which supports the cushion 17 and may be bonded thereto. A poppet 15 prevents extrusion of the disc 14 into the inlet passage. In the modified embodiment of Fig. 4, (not shown), the closure disc is encircled by a metal rim (21) and co-operates with a floating seat (22). In either case, the diaphragm is of spring steel, beryllium copper or a resin-bonded glass fibre material and can be initially flat. The cushion 17 can be compressible or incompressible and may be a liquid, and is of a material not readily susceptible to temperature changes. The separate closure disc may be omitted.
