Abstract

1,159,416. Tachogenerators. J. L. FEAVER. July 10, 1968, No. 32925/68. Heading G1N. A tachometer comprises a permanent magnet M Fig. 1 attached to the rotor and a series of reed switches R1, &c. attached to the stator to be operated sequentially by the magnet M, the switches being connected in parallel and associated with a monostable multi-vibrator to produce a pulse train whose frequency is determined in an averaging circuit. In one embodiment the switches are connected in say three groups, R1 R4, R7 &c. ; R2, R5, R8 etc.; R3, R6, R9 &c. to produce three pulse trains whose average values are added. In another embodiment Fig. 3, (not shown), alternate switches are electromagnetically polarized in opposite directions and two oppositely poled permanent magnets are used to produce two pulse trains whose average values are added.
