Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions having uricosuric and anti-inflammatory activity comprise, as active ingredient, at least one 1,5 - disubstituted barbituric acid derivative of the general formula wherein R, is a # - acetylethyl group and R 2 is a cyclohexyl or phenyl group, or pharmaceutically acceptable base addition salt thereof, optionally together with aminopyrine or a steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, with or without a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The compositions may be administered as powders, tablets, solutions or emulsions for oral administration or as injections or suppositories for non-oral administration.
