Abstract

[Also in Division C3] An α,#-diester is prepared by (a) esterifying a polyester glycol having the formula HO- (R-O) n H in which R is an alkylene radical containing at least three carbon atoms and n is an integer greater than 2, with a monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, or the anhydride of such an acid, so as to give an α,#-dicarboxyl unsaturated polyether ester and (b) reacting this ester with a glycidyl ester of formula in which R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are alkyl radicals, so as to give the corresponding α,#-diester. For each mole of the polyether glycol there are used two moles of the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or acid anhydride, and two moles of the glycidyl ester.
