Abstract

1,158,325. Windings for inductive apparatus. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 9 Nov., 1966 [9 Nov., 1965], No. 47473/65. Heading HIT. In an inductive apparatus such as a transformer in which a capacitive path is provided by an auxiliary winding as described in Specification 1,001,512, the main conductor comprises a plurality of mutually electrically insulated conductor strands C which are transposed with one another. The auxiliary conductor G, H may be a separate conductor disposed radially or axially adjacent the main conductor, or a conductor transposed with the strands of the main conductor, or it may comprise metal particles carried in a curable liquid medium applied to the main conductor, or a metal sheath extruded with the main conductor. Various combinations of main and auxiliary conductors are described, Fig. 7-17 (not shown). Each winding unit, Fig. 1, consists of two or more pancake sections A1, A2 &c. which are alternately wound from outside to inside and vice versa. In the former case dummy turns or part turns are used, these being progressively removed as winding progresses. Various methods of interconnecting the auxiliary conductors are described.
