Abstract

1,158,032. Film processing. ITEK CORP. Aug. 8, 1966 [Aug. 17, 1965], No. 35434/66. Heading G2A. Photographic film is supported in and propelled through a processor by jets of fluid directed on both sides of the film surface so as to be applied thereto only at spaced intervals and thereby form a discontinuous cushion of fluid. As shown in Fig. 1 the film 2 is passed between two rows of deflectors 4, and is supported and propelled between the deflectors by fluid sprays issuing from spray bar 3. Various deflectors of different shapes are disclosed, Fig. 3-6 (not shown), and in one embodiment, Fig. 9 (not shown), the fluid spray tube and deflector are integral. The spray bar 3 may issue two types of sprays, a light spray for processing the film, and a spray of greater force at a more acute angle to the film for supporting and propelling of the film. A processing unit, Fig. 7 (not shown), includes two such units, one above the other, the film being directed from the upper to the lower by means of a further semicircular unit using air as the fluid.
