Abstract
1,157,941. Roller-and-ring mills. LOESCHE HARTZERKLEINERUNGS-und ZEMENTMACHINEN K.G. 11 July, 1967 [23 July, 1966], No. 31856/67. Heading B2A. [Also in Division F2] A roller-and-ring mill for operation under pressure comprises a mill roller support enclosed in a housing, a fulcrum shaft 50 Fig. 2 including a stuffing box 55, and a sealing air chamber 57 The opening in the mill housing accommodating the grinding bowl is connected with the upper portion of a gear housing 11 by an elastic sleeve 14, Fig. 3. This sleeve is secured by rings 13, 17 and may be made of silicone-rubber-coated, bilaterally-metallized asbestos fabric. Compressed air from a blower 41 is introduced into an annular space 40 adjacent the .bowl 9 and prevented from escape through the gear housing 11 'and along a drive shaft 30 therein by a dynamic seal 19, 20, 21, Fig. 4, with oil supplied via a conduit 24 during rotation of the shaft, and by a diaphragm check valve 22 which retains air and oil when the shaft is stationary. When the shaft, is rotating the check valve 22 lifts off a cover 33 and is inoperative due to centrifugal force.
