In a sanitary device for attachment to a telephone mouthpiece, the device is provided with one or more resilient feet which engage with holes in the perforated cover of the mouthpiece. The device is preferably made of polystyrene and has a snap-on lid, both the base and lid of the device being perforated so as to allow vapour, from a volatile, disinfecting solid or liquid material located in the device, to escape. The material may be retained in a sac which is pierced when the lid is closed.
