A removable disinfecting device for a telephone mouthpiece or earpiece comprises a twopart casing of which the base part 1 has upstanding ribs 5 which co-operate with a spider arrangement (9) in the cover part (6) to define compartments for storing a particulate disinfectant, e.g. paraformaldehyde. A mesh (10) is located between the cover and base and the latter is perforated. A central transmitting hole 2 is provided in the base and the cover, this hole being left free of disinfectant.
