Abstract
115,700. Brown, S. G. May 18, 1917. Vacuum tubes.-In an electric relay, amplifier, or detector, a grid electrode is placed in direct contact with an emitting oxide coating on the hot cathode. As shown, the grid consists of a wire C wound on the coating B. The wire may be partly or wholly embedded in the oxide; in the latter case, the anode may also be placed in contact with the coating, for instance by being wound thereon in the form of wire. An additional separate anode for collecting stray ions may then be provided.
