Abstract
115,587. Drake, W. H. Nov. 7, 1917. Moulding pulp. - Articles, such as dairy utensils, containers for food, tobacco, &c., are formed by introducing pulp into a foraminous mould and applying fluid pressure at a point near the bottom of the mould so as to force the pulp upwardly along the sides of the mould and force the water through the mould. As shown, the mould comprising hinged sections 16, 17, is furnished with a duct 18, terminating near the bottom of the mould, through which duct pulp is supplied from a receptacle 10 fitted with a cut-off 14 and through which compressed air is introduced through a connexion 15. The duct 18 is provided with an adjustable sector 18<1> whereby the relative thickness of the bottom and side walls of the article may be adjusted.
