Clearing-apparatus.-In order that all the clearer plates on a frame may be adjusted simultaneously at one operation and also that the pairs of clearer plates may be independently adjusted to the distance apart desired, the fixed and movable plates g, g<1> respectively of each pair are mounted upon brackets e which are clamped upon fixed and movable rods a, a'. In the arrangement shown, the movable rod a<1> is adjusted by means of a nut b and secured in the adjusted position by a locknut b'.
