Abstract

Luggage-carriers ; seat attachments. - The capacity of a carrier for motor-bicycles &c. is increased by frames d journaled on spindles c rigidly held in blocks 5 on uprights b<1> on the carrier proper a. These frames may be clamped in any position on the spindles c by nuts e', which, owing to the actions of the bevelled faces of the ends of tubular parts d<1> on the bevelled faces of the ends of hubs e, cause these tubular parts to bind on the spindles c. The uprights b<1>, b<2> are constructed as shown in Fig, 7 of a tube 1 inside which is a metal strap 2 adapted to be tightened on the carrier frame a or a loose split sleeve thereon by a screw 4 passing through the circular metal block 5. A pillion seat, as shown'in Fig. 2, may be supported by the frames d upon which it bears by notched snugs g<3>, the ends of the frames lying between a plate h and a washer k supported by a spring i which thus yields to any weight on the carrier. The seat may be removed by merely lifting it. The carrier may be folded.
