Abstract

238,140. Scott, C. E. Feb. 13, 1925. Contacting-solid resistances; wire and ribbon resistances mounted on frames.-A variable resistance principally for use in connection with electric welding comprises a box-shaped frame having a series of parallel side bars 2, 3 having adjustable hooks 12 mounted thereon and supporting chain elements which serve as resistances. The shanks of the hooks pass through the side bars and are adjusted by nuts 19. As shown, a chain unit 14 is attached to the side members 2, 3, a unit 15 is attached to the members 4, 5 and a unit 16 to the members 6, 7. Units 17, 18 are respectively attached to the units 14, 15 and 15, 16.
