Abstract
295,299. Wiggin & Co., Ltd., H., and Lobley, A. G. April 8, 1927. Resistance furnaces.-Heating-resistances for electric furnaces are supported by hooks detachably mounted in insulators detachably secured in a metal frame, grid, or panel, preferably of the same material as the resistances. The insulators may be formed as sleeves c passing through bosses a<2> in the frame a and secured by nuts C4 . The insulators may be formed with squared ends c<2> which prevent them from turning, as shown. The resistances are formed of metal ribbon f supported by hooks b<1> the shanks b of which pass through the sleeves c, the ends being turned down to engage grooves in the heads of the sleeves. Instead of the nuts c' the sleeves may be held in place by elastic pins, or pieces screwed to the frame and engaging their rear ends. Insulating blocks secured to the frame may be employed to prevent the ribbon f from slipping out of the hooks. The grids or panels may be supported by girders j, Fig. 13, supported on ledges o along the sides of the furnaces.
