Abstract
241,425. Gould, W. G. Jan. 9, 1925. Radiators, motor-car and like.-A louvre device for regulating the flow of air comprises two groups of vertical louvres p mounted in a cast or stamped frame formed in two parts a<1>, a<2> secured together at b, b<1> by bolts or screws, the groups of louvres being moved simultaneously in opposite directions by a knob i, Fig. 9, carried by a bolt g supporting a pinion l engaging racks carried by horizontal actuating-bars s, s<1>, Fig. 3. The louvre strips p have struck-out lugs q engaging holes in the bars s, s<1> for actuation. These lugs may be directed alternately upwards and downwards. The outer ends of the bars s, s<1> are curved and supported in slotted brackets v, v<1> on the frame, while their inner ends are forked, one branch of each fork haying teeth to engage the pinion and the opposite branch serving to support the toothed part of the other bar. The pinion l is mounted between discs k<1>, Fig. 9, these parts being keyed on a reduced part h of the bolt g. The knob i is fast on the bolt g and is held in a set position by lock-nuts, which are slackened to allow the knob to be rotated for adjusting the louvres. The device is mounted within the radiatior frame in front of the cooling-elements.
