Abstract

[Also in Division E1] A shelf or rack structure includes carriers for stored articles, e.g. pallets, carried by concrete pillars disposed side by side in a row so that together they define a wall in which vertical webs of the pillars are aligned in the plane of the wall. In one arrangement the pillars may be of X, T, L, H or U-shaped cross-section with aligned webs 1, 1<SP>1</SP> or 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, and transverse webs 2 or 4, and have integral formations or attachments along their length to support shelves or bearer beams 5 at adjustable height. Two pillar sections may be superposed. Another form of pillar 11-15, Fig. 6, has a rectangular box section. Cantilevered arms 16 interconnected by cross-beams 17 are secured on one or both sides of the wall by bolts (20, Figs. 10-12) passed through the wall between adjacent pillars. In another form, Fig. 13, the pillars 31, 32 comprise a web 321 provided with channelled longitudinal edges 322, 322<SP>1</SP> defining grooves filled with concrete 340 when the wall is assembled. Brackets 33 are cantilevered from the wall at adjustable height.
