1,057,526. Storage racks. TRIAX CO. June 15, 1965, No. 25204/65. Heading A4B. A storage rack, especially for pallets, comprises a pair of parallel rows of uprights (1, 1<SP>1</SP>) defining an aisle (2) therebetween, a pair of parallel rows of outer uprights (3, 3<SP>1</SP>), stringers interconnecting the uprights of each row, means (17, 17<SP>1</SP>) rigidly interconnecting each aisle upright (1, 1<SP>1</SP>) and an associated outer upright (3, 3<SP>1</SP>), horizontal pallet support members (15, 15<SP>1</SP>) secured to and between each aisle upright (1, 1<SP>1</SP>) and its associated outer upright (3, 3<SP>1</SP>) to define a plurality of bays on each side of the aisle (2), cross members interconnecting the tops of laterally aligned uprights (1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 3, 3<SP>1</SP>), and adjustable bracing means disposed on the sides and across the top of the structure for squaring the sides and top. The adjustable bracing in general comprises turnbuckles or the like e.g. as at (31, 37, 39) for tensioning diagonal rods, e.g. as at (30, 36, 38). The uprights (1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 3, 3<SP>1</SP>) are supported through the intermediary of shims 87 on flat bars (11, 12) secured to the ground (B). End aisle uprights (1, 1<SP>1</SP>) are adjustably anchored by turnbuckles (70, 70<SP>1</SP>) to rigid vertical truss assemblies (50, 50<SP>1</SP>). Intermediate longitudinal stringers (7, 7<SP>1</SP>, 8, 8<SP>1</SP>) secured to the aisle uprights (1, 1<SP>1</SP>) comprise downwardly open channels serving as guides for rollers (26) carried by a pallet loader (20) which is movable along the aisle between upper and lower rails (22, 23). The loader (20) has a vertically movable, pallet carrying and extracting member (29).
