In a foldable invalid's wheel chair, vertically pivotable foot rests 9 can be detached, in certain positions, by withdrawing pivots 14, 15 from holes (6) in lugs (4 and 5), fixed to the uprights of the chair frame. In the in-use or stowed position, the release of the pivots is blocked by interlocking formations, on or above the lugs 13 (and 5) and transfer, from one position to the other, necessitates raising the foot rest to overcome the blocking action of projection 18. The foot supporting plates are foldable about horizontal axes.
