Abstract
1,152,474. Dialkyl tin-dichloride-organic amine derivatives; dialkyl tin derivatives. SCHERING A.G. 26 July, 1966 [5 Aug., 1965], No. 33503/66. Heading C2J. Dialkyl tin mercaptides or acylates are prepared by dissolving a dialkyl tin halide which may be contaminated with trialkyl tin halide in an inert solvent (a hydrocarbon or an ether) and heating with an amine (which may be primary, secondary or tertiary, aromatic, cycloaliphatic, aliphatic or heterocyclic) to a temperature between 20‹ and 100‹ C. The dialkyl tin amine complex precipitates and is filtered off, any trialkyl tin compound remaining in solution. The dialkyl tin amine complex is then dissolved in an inert solvent, and a mercapto compound (which may be a mercaptan, mercapto alcohol or ester thereof or mercapto acid or ester thereof) or a mono or dicarboxylic acid is added and the mixture heated. The solvent is then extracted under vacuum to leave the required product. In the examples, dialkyl tin dichloride-amine complexes are formed with aniline (I), quinoline (II), pyridine (XVI), propylene diamine (III), ethylene diamine (VII), isophoronediamine (XV) and one of dimethyl, di-n-butyl and di-n-octyl tin dichloride.
