Abstract
Phosphate esters of the formula <FORM:0734764/IV (a)/1> wherein R is the tetrahydrofurfuryl radical and R1 and R2 are alike or different and each represents a phenyl, cresyl or xylyl radical, are specified as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride. The esters can be prepared by the method of Specification 734,768, [Group IV (b)]. Specifications 656,471, [Group IV (b)], and 661,380 also are referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises neutral esters of the formula <FORM:0734764/IV (b)/1> wherein R is the tetrahydrofurfuryl radical and R1 and R2 each represent a phenyl, cresyl or xylyl radical, R1 and R2 being alike or different. Such esters are obtained by a specific application of the process of Specification 734,768. Examples describe the preparation by that process of (1) diphenyl tetrahydrofurfuryl phosphate; (2) di-tolyl tetrahydrofurfuryl phosphate (from mixed cresols); and (3) phenyl xylyl tetrahydrofurfuryl phosphate (from mixed xylenols). Specifications 656,471 and 661,380 also are referred to.
