Abstract
1,151,586. Continuity couplings. HEPWORTH ELECTRICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 17 Oct., 1967 [17 Oct., 1966], No. 46231/66. Heading H2E. A contact strip 8, e.g. of tinned copper, is clamped to the lead sheath of a cable 2 by a resilient lining 7 of natural or synthetic rubber compressed by a metal strap 3 secured by a buckle 4. The strap 8 may have one or two ends 9 projecting through the buckle 4 and apertured for securing an earth lead. The ends may also pass through one or two oppositely disposed, asymmetrically slotted strips 11 at one end thereof, the other end or ends being similarly clamped to the lead sheath to bridge a gap therein. Alternatively, the strap 8 may have a laterally projecting tag (Fig. 4, not shown) for connection purposes or be a layer of braid having one end wrapped round the lead sheath. The resilient member 7 may be a single layer which may be bonded to the strap 3 or a tape wound round the cable.
