Abstract
115,092. Robinson, W. April 26, 1917. Feed - water, supplying. -- Water is forced from a chamber H into the boiler B by the pressure of steam generated in pipes C placed in the boiler furnace. The counterbalanced float L<1> in the chamber is suspended from a pulley K<2> having projections which contact with and throw over a lever K<3> connected to a slide-valve M controlling the passage of boiler steam through tubes M<2>, M<4> to a piston F on a valve f<2> in the steam pipe F<3> between the auxiliary generator C and the water chamber H. When the water chamber is empty, the valve M closes the end of the tube M<2> and places the back of the piston in communication with the atmosphere through the tube M<4> and port M<5> While steam is being raised, a valve f<1> is held open by a hand-operated spindle f<7>, to allow steam to pass from the auxiliary generator into the boiler steam space. A valve f<3> on the spindle of the valve f<1> controls the exhaust of steam from the water chamber through the passage F<2> leading to the water-supply reservoir g. A modification comprises two alternately-operating water chambers containing floats connected by a chain passing over a pulley and operating slidevalves controlling the supply of steam to pistonoperated valves as described above. In the modification, the piston-operated valves are mounted upon the water chambers.
