Abstract

In an extrusion-blow-moulding process, the weld at the bottom of a parison is of a sinuous shape in the plane perpendicular to the axis of the parison. This enables the parison to be of larger diameter than hitherto relative to the mould diameter, i.e. reducing the expansion ratio, thereby reducing the risk of irregular wall thickness and the size of scrap. The ratio of the diameters of the parison to the blown body may be ><SP>2</SP>/#.
