Abstract

957,675. Making self-tapping screws. RESEARCH ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING Inc. May 26, 1960 [June 9, 1959], No. 18628/60. Heading B3A. A method of making a self-tapping member 10 comprises forming a blank to a non-circular cross-section which is approximately an equilateral triangle with arcuate sides 17, wherein the centre 18 of each arc is located on a radius from the member axis 20 to the intersection 16 of the other two sides, and then forming a thread 15 on said blank. The thread is formed by rolling between platens.
