Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a hollow container having an improved dimensional resistance to thermal effects, by a method wherein polyethylene terephthalate is preliminarily molded so that the wall thicknesses around the shoulder part and the bottom part satisfy the specified conditions, and then molded in a biaxial stretching blowing manner. CONSTITUTION:The wall thickness distribution of a preliminarily molded body 1 is regulated so as to satisfy the following: t2<=t1, 0.5<=t2/t3<=0.8 (where t1 is the wall thickness of the portion, not stretched, corresponding to the lower end part of the neck of the container or the wall thickness of the center of the bottom, t2 is the average wall thickness of the portion corresponding to the intermediate region of the shoulder part of the container or the portion corresponding to the periphery of the bottom, and t3 is the average wall thickness of the portion corresponding to the sufficiently stretched region in the barrel part of the container), and said body 1 is molded in a conventional biaxial stretching blowing manner. Stretching starts from the part having a relatively small wall thickness of the preliminarily molded body 1, so that the number of the parts of small stretching or the unstretched parts becomes extremely small.
