Abstract

1,150,321. Automatic circuit-breakers. ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION (W'TON) Ltd. 26 Sept., 1966 [12 Oct., 1965], No. 43240/65. Heading H1N. A latched contactor or circuit-breaker has a guided ball 32 co-operating with a shoulder 31 of a rod 30 attached to an armature carrier 9 toward which the ball is urged by a pivoted lever 40 under the bias of a spring-urged lever 38. When the lever 38 is moved anticlockwise by Bowden cable 90 or trip coil armature 94, the end 43 of the lever 38 moves past the end 42 of the lever 40 to permit the latter to move clockwise so that the armature carrier 9 is moved downward by gravity, the armature " throwoff " springs and the contact springs. The armature carrier 9 acts upon a pair of cranks 5 on a pivoted rod 53, to move a contact support 4 which carries spring-biased movable main bridging contacts 16, 13 and auxiliary contact bridges (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) which are mounted at opposite ends of plastics supports (24) between the main contacts on the support 4. Spring-pressed contacts (82) connected to the operating coil 6 engage fixed contacts 81 mounted on the contact enclosure casing 2 so that the electromagnet enclosure casing 1 can be easily removed.
