Abstract

1,149,227. Reducing oxidic iron ore. DUISBURGER KUPFERHUTTE. April 19, 1967 [April 29, 1966], No.17940/67, Heading C7D. To accelerate the reduction of oxidic iron compounds by gaseous and/or solid reducing agents there is added to the compound finely divided metallic iron, the reduction then being carried out in known manner. The mixture of compound and metallic iron may be supplied to the reduction process in the form of gas-permeable agglomerates, which may be hardened if oxidation of the iron is avoided. The process is particularly suitable for the reduction of magnetite ores. As exemplified the iron may be added up to 2% by weight of the ore.
