[Also in Divisions F1 and F2] In a screw drive for boats, the screw 4 is surrounded by a nozzle ring 15 and is driven via a reversing gear 5, 6, 7 by an intermediate shaft 2 extending perpendicularly to the screwshaft 3, the intermediate shaft being surrounded, by a housing 12 divided horizontally in a plane between the engine connecting shaft 1 and the screw shaft, one housing part 13 accommodating the reversing gear and the other housing part 14 accommodating the nozzle ring, both housing parts having co-operating passages for separately conducting the engine exhaust gases and the screw drive. In the embodiment described each housing part also has passages for circulating engine cooling water and passages for circulating the gear lubricating rib, which latter is circulated by means of a rotor 39 revolving with the screw shaft.
